CSCL, UAS consolidation in Asia-Middle East

  • China Shipping Container Lines and United Arab Shipping entered slot-swap arrangements in the Asia-Middle East trades, starting at the end of this month.

    The agreement covers CSCL’s AMA (Asia-Middle East) Service and UASC’s Asia Gulf Express 1 (AGX1) Service.

    The AMA port rotation, upgraded with additional calls at Shanghai and Ningbo, will be Tianjin, Dalian, Busan, Shanghai (double call), Ningbo, Shekou, Port Kelang, Khor Fakkan, Jebel Ali, Bandar Shahid Rejaie Sez, Port Kelang, Nansha, and back to Tianjin.

    The trade moving to and from the Indian Subcontinent is relayed over Jebel Ali on this service.

    CSCL operates the AMA in conjunction with CMA CGM, deploying six vessels of 8,500 20-foot equivalent units capacity, but the French carrier is not part of the planned slot-sharing arrangement.

    The existing port coverage of the AGX1, which UASC operates jointly with Hanjin Shipping, is Busan, Shanghaiy, Ningboy, Xiameny, Yantian, Khor Fakkan, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Khor Fakkany, Singapore, and back to Busan.

    Also toward the end of November, UASC plans to reintroduce its Asia Gulf Express 2 (AGX2) Service, which was temporarily suspended in April this year.

    The AGX2 rotation will be Hong Kongy, Singapore, Laem Chabangy, Singapore, Port Kelang, Jebel Ali, Khor Fakkan, Port Sultan Qaboos, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
