Throughput of Murmansk Commercial Seaport by 12.5% to 9.145 million tonnes in Jan-09 Jul

  • In January-July 2009, Murmansk Commercial Seaport OJSC handled 9.145 million tonnes of cargo (+12.5%, year-on-year), the company’s press center reports.

    In July the stevedore handled 1.410 million tonnes of cargo (+26%,
    year-on-year), including 1.363 million tonnes of export cargo (with
    coal accounting for 1.177 million tonnes), 47,300 tonnes of coastal
    trade cargo.

    In the same period the port handled 46 vessels including 20 vessels with coal.

    JSC Murmansk Commercial Seaport was established in 1994 on base of the
    public enterprise and nowadays it is one of Russia’s busiest ports. The
    port has 17 berths with total length of some 3,000 meters. The length
    and depth enables the port to handle vessels of up to 15.5 meters in
    draft and over 265 meters in length. In 2008 the company handled
    14,329,183 tonnes of cargo. Major shareholder of Murmansk Commercial
    Seaport is Specialized Project Investments B.V. (63.53% of ordinary
    shares). The state owns 34% of the company’s shares.
