  • Global oil prices eased further in Asian trade Monday, for the ninth day in succession, amid concerns about the level of US demand and a stronger dollar.

Light sweet crude for January delivery was seen trading at $69.42 a
barrel at 11.30 a.m Singapore time after hitting as low as $68.59 a
    barrel earlier.

On Friday, oil prices fell for the eighth straight session in New York.
Crude for January delivery fell 67 cents to settle at $69.87 a barrel
on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

It was the first time the front-month contract had closed below $70 a
barrel since October 7. Over the past eight sessions, it has fallen 11
    per cent.

In London, Brent North Sea crude for January edged up two US cents to settle at $71.88 a barrel.

Oil dropped on concern that demand will be insufficient to keep prices rising after crude’s 55 percent gain this year.

Fuel deliveries in the U.S., the world’s biggest consumer, averaged
18.5 million barrels a day in the four weeks ended Dec. 4, 3 percent
less than a year earlier, US Energy Department reported last week.

Crude has also fallen as the dollar strengthened 2.4 percent against the euro so far this month.
