Oil exports dominate top Russian ports
As expected, the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk handled the largest tonnage out of all the Russian ports last year totalling more than 120 mill tonnes.
The oil loading port of Primorsk was second with around 50 mill tonnes,
while St Petersburg came in third, according to figures published by
SeaNews. While both Novorossiysk and Primorsk increased throughput by 9.1% and
4.7% respectively, St Petersburg volumes fell by 16% year-on-year.The top three Russian ports have not changed places for several years.
It was a similar story with Murmansk, Vostochny, Tuapse and Vyssotsk,
which occupied fourth to seventh place respectively, SeaNews said. However, the next tranche did change places in the rankings due to
opening of Varandey, the start up of operations at Prigorodnoye, and a
number of other factors.A more detailed report was due to be published soon, SeaNews said.
