NY Terminal Hold Line on leisure, Demurrage

Shipping News | September 3, 2009 | View Comments
  • The New York Terminal conference, representing marine terminals in the Port of New York and New Jersey, issued a revised schedule of charges that includes no change in demurrage and free time for containers.

Some other charges, including special handling, gate moves and
mounting, grounding and segregating of containers, will increase about
5 percent on Oct. 1 as a result of increased labor costs.

The NYTC operates under an antitrust exemption approved by the Federal
Maritime Commission under shipping act. Members are American
Stevedoring, Global Terminal & Container Services, New York
Container Terminal, Port Newark Container Terminal and Universal
    Maritime Service.
