Mediterranean Shipping Company has deployed Food Supplement

Shipping News | December 1, 2009 | View Comments
  • MEDITERRANEAN Shipping Company has announced it will be implementing a food quality surcharge. Australia and New Zealand managing director Kevin Clarke says the fund will be put towards repairing and upgrading shipping containers.

“The considerable decline in imports has contributed to a shortage of
12m equipment and, with enormous demand from the various grain
shippers, it has become extremely costly to repair and upgrade
thousands of 12m containers to a food quality level suitable for grain
shippers,” Australia and New Zealand managing director Kevin Clarke
    says.

The food quality surcharge on grain cargo will apply to all trades.
