Maersk save billions on fuel

Shipping News | October 26, 2009 | View Comments
  • Maersk Line has cut the consumption of fuel per transported unit by 15 percent. This means that Maersk Lines container vessels have saved billions on the bottom-line at Maersk Line’s.

“The 15 percent reduction of our fuel consumption per transported unit
will lead to a cost saving to Maersk Line in the magnitude of half a
billion dollars this year, provided the oil prices remain close to the
level year to date”, says Eivind Kolding, CEO of M?rsk-Line.

Up to 2012 the consumption is to be reduced by an additional 20 per
cent. So the total reduction of fuel consumption will be 35 percent per
transported unit, which is a significant amount saved to the company,
    Danish daily Borsen told.
