Lorenzo Shipping Safety receives award from Doles office in working conditions
Lorenzo Shipping Corporation was recently awarded by the Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) of the Department of Labor and Employment with a Safety Recognition Award during the Annual Safety Milestone Recognition held at the Traders Hotel, Manila.
The award, which is given annually by the BWC to recognize a company’s
excellent programs on workplace safety and health, is a result of
Lorenzo Shipping’s achievement of a Safety Milestone with a total of 1
million safe working hours with No Lost Time Incident, equivalent to a
No Lost Time Accident for a period of one year. To date, Lorenzo
Shipping has accumulated more than 1.4 Million safe working hours with
No Lost Time Incident. It is the only shipping company that received
such an award on this occasion.George Sebastian, an accredited
Safety Practitioner and Group HSES Head, was also awarded with the
Safety Recognition Award for his significant contribution and active
involvement in the implementation of Lorenzo Shipping’s workplace
safety and health programs and activities.Lorenzo Shipping asserts
that the importance of safety in the work place cannot be
overemphasized. Safety programs are highly prevalent in its areas of
operations where the employees are exposed to sustained risks in their
daily tasks not to mention the daily work place risks of its office
personnel. To attain a Zero Lost Time Incident, the company adopted
several HSES Programs such as an organized Safety and Health Committee,
conduct of monthly safety meetings, Tool Box meetings, and providing
appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to staff. All these in
turn result into a safer, faster and secure handling of customers’
