Japanese scrap export 10 months ago by 76pct YoY

  • According to statistics released by Japan’s Ministry of Finance, Japan’s scrap export during January to October 2009 period was 8.3 million tonnes, up by 76% YoY. The scrap export during 2009 is estimated to reach 9.97 million tonnes.

    The main importers of Japan’s scrap are China and South Korea. China
    imported about 4.4 million tonnes of scrap during January to October,
    and South Korea imported about 3.31 million tonnes. China’s scrap
    import from Japan grows to more than double from last year.
