Diana Shipping Inc. Announces Time Charter Contract for M / V NAIAS

Diana Shipping Inc., a global shipping company specializing in the transportation of dry bulk cargoes, announced that it has entered into a time charter contract with J. Aron & Company, New York, the principal global trading subsidiary of Goldman Sachs, for one of its Panamax dry bulk carriers, the m/v Naias, at a gross
rate of US$19,000 per day for a minimum eleven (11) to a maximum
thirteen (13) month period. This employment is anticipated to generate
approximately US$6.3 million of gross revenues for the minimum
scheduled period of the charter. The charter is intended tocommence August 24, 2009. The m/v Naias is a 73,546 dwt Panamax dry bulk carrier built in 2006.
