The new marine port Shanna in Oman was officially opened at the weekend, the Oman News Agency (ONA) has reported. The RO.9.7 million ($25.19m) was opened by the Transport and Communications Ministry at an official ceremony on Saturday.
Said bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, undersecretary of the Transport and
Communications Ministry for Ports and Marine Affairs told the ONA the
project includes a 1,170 metre long dock, 370 metre long wave break
waters, a 318 metre long marine dock and offices, shops, a mosque and
car parks.Last month, Oman’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices
declined by 27.4 percent as of the end of the third quarter of 2009
compared to the same period in 2008, new data has showed. According to
figures released by the National Economy Ministry, the decline was
