Maersk Line announces rate hike in the Mediterranean and North Africa to North America trade

Ship Building News | September 3, 2009 | View Comments
  • Maersk Line would like to announce a general rate increase effective 1 October 2009 in the Mediterranean and North African to US and Canada trades.

The trading conditions for the carriers operating in these markets are still subject to unacceptable rate levels and the situation is unsustainable in the longer term. The rate increase is necessary to continue to operate our services with the high level of reliability our customers have come to expect from Maersk Line.

The filed increase is as follows:

    • USD 300 per container

The increase applies from all origins in Mediterranean and North Africa to all destination points in USA and Canada, and it applies to both dry and reefer cargo.
