Maersk Line announces new direct service between India, the Middle East and the West in the Mediterranean (UASC slot arrangement)

  • Maersk Line is pleased to introduce a new direct service, ME2, from India and the Middle East to the West Mediterranean and back, through a slot exchange agreement with United Arab Shipping Co. on its Mina Service.

    The launch of the ME2 service is an enhancement to our existing product portfolio and offers the following benefits to our customers:

    • Direct coverage of key West Mediterranean ports to and from Middle East and the Indian subcontinent
    • Superior transit times
    • High schedule reliability

    The ME2 service rotation covers the following ports: Valencia (Spain), Genoa (Italy), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Jebel Ali (UAE), Port Qasim (Pakistan), Nhava Sheva (India), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Genoa (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), and Valencia (Spain).

    Start dates for the service as follows:

    • Eastbound: MV Fowairet, sailing from Genoa, 21 September 2009
    • Westbound: MV Hanjin Rio de Janeiro, sailing from Nhava Sheva 19 September 2009

    This slot exchange agreement is a part of Maersk Lines ongoing commitment to constantly improve our services and meet our customers’ requirements.
