  • The number of oil and gas rigs drilling in the US is up by 11 this week to total 1010. The number of rigs drilling for oil is up by five to 293 and those drilling for gas gained six to total 705,

    according to a report by Houston-based oilfield services company Baker Hughes released today.

    Alaska gained one rig bringing their total to eight while Wyoming gained two to total 37.

    Louisiana gained three bringing the total to 147 and Colorado gained two to total 45 rigs.

    Texas gained nine rigs to total 382, while New Mexico lost three to total 46 this week.

    Oklahoma lost five to total 69 rigs while North Dakota lost one
    bringing the total to 46 and California remained the same with 20 rigs.

    Arkansas lost one rig this week to total 42.
