Freight News | December 12, 2009 | View Comments
  • China’s crude steel output in November is estimated to have reached 521.84 million metric tons in the January-November period, according to a projection posted by Custeel, an industry information provider backed by the China Iron and Steel Association.

This would mean that China produced 49.37 million tons of crude steel
in November, based on a Dow Jones Newswires calculation, if official
October figures provided by the National Bureau of Statistics are
subtracted from Custeel’s cumulative November projection.

The volume would up 40% compared with last November. Custeel’s year-to-date projection is up 13%.

The bureau last month said China produced 472.47 million tons of crude
steel between January and October. Custeel’s projection was based on
late-November reports by 73 steel mills tracked by CISA, the report
    said.

Official November figures are due for release Friday by the National Bureau of Statistics.
